Public Kick-Off Meeting for the US 301 PD&E study

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a Public Kick-Off Meeting for the US 301 PD&E study. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the need to widen US 301 from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway. We will also evaluate the need to create a truck route around the City of Coleman to lessen the movement of heavy truck traffic through that community, and, the need to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety throughout the corridor. The need for these evaluations is based on a projected increase in traffic volume. The study limits extend from CR 470 West to SR 44, a distance of approximately eight miles.
 
The meeting is Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Coleman Community Hall located at 1204 North Church Street in Coleman.  It is an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and includes a brief presentation starting at 6:00 p.m.  Participants may review project information and discuss the project with FDOT staff at any time during the meeting.

The Florida Department of Transportation is holding the second Agency Project Advisory Group (APAG) meeting for the Interstate 4 (I-4) Poinciana Parkway Connector Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential for an enhanced roadway connection(s) from I-4 to the greater Poinciana area in Osceola and Polk Counties. The meeting will provide a project status update, the corridor alternatives evaluation will be presented, and comments will be solicited.
 
The meeting is being held to coordinate with environmental resource agencies having permitting and/or approval authority and with other governmental and non-governmental organizations. The purpose of the APAG is to provide an opportunity for the study team and the agencies to work collaboratively to develop a transportation improvement that meets the needs of the area while minimizing impacts to the natural, social and physical environment. Members of the APAG will provide input into the development and evaluation of transportation improvement options throughout the duration of the project.
 
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Osceola County Administration Building – BCC Chambers, 1 Courthouse Square, Kissimmee, Florida 34741.

Seminole and Volusia Counties- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting the Volusia Transit Connector Study to evaluate the potential for providing enhanced transit service within the area encompassed by State Road (S.R.) 46 in Seminole County to U.S. 1 in Volusia County. FDOT will be hosting a public kick-off event at several community locations. The purpose of the public kick-off event is to introduce the study to the general public, provide contact information, and obtain public feedback. The public will be given the opportunity to provide contact information in written form or via computer station at each event.
