Purpose:
On behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), we invite you to a public information meeting regarding the Wekiva Parkway Sections 3A & 3B Construction Projects in Lake County. The public meeting is being held to review the construction plans and schedule for work to begin this year.
 
Section 3A project limits are along State Road (S.R.) 46 from east of Vista View Lane to east of Round Lake Road. The 1.4-mile project will widen S.R. 46 to six lanes, and widen a small portion of Round Lake Road.
 
Section 3B project limits are along S.R. 46 from west of U.S. 441 to east of Vista View Lane, and along U.S. 441 from north of Natoma Boulevard to the Lake-Orange County Line in Mount Dora. The 2.4-mile project will convert the U.S. 441 / S.R. 46 interchange into an at-grade, signalized intersection with a flyover ramp, and will widen both roads to six lanes.
 
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Mount Dora Community Building located at 520 N. Baker Street, Mount Dora, Florida 32757.  The meeting is an informal open house where plans will be available for review and project staff will be available to address questions.

FDOT hosts public hearing to discuss Whitehair Bridge replacement

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to a public hearing regarding the design plans for the construction of a new fixed-span bridge over the St. Johns River.  The project limits are along State Road (S.R.) 44 from west of County Road (C.R.) 42 in Lake County to east of Ed Stone Park in Volusia County.  The total project length is approximately 0.5 miles. 
 
The proposed improvements include reconstructing the two-lane rural roadway bridge approaches through the project limits, south of the existing bridge.  In addition, the signal at the S.R. 44 and C.R. 42 intersection will be replaced and the access road to Pier 44 Marina will be relocated.  Access changes to Ed Stone Park, St. Johns Marina, Old New York Avenue, and Shady Oaks will be included as part of this design project.  Improvements also include new stormwater ponds and safety enhancements.  The bridge will be designed to accommodate a future 12-foot multi-use trail.
The proposed improvements will enhance safety and access along S.R. 44. This design project is scheduled for completion in Spring 2018. Right-of-way acquisition for this project is currently funded in Fiscal Years (FY) 2018 and 2019.  Construction of this project is currently funded in FY 2020.
 
The public hearing will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Sanborn Activity and Event Center located at 815 South Alabama Avenue in DeLand. The purpose of this public hearing is to present information and receive public input regarding the proposed design. It begins with an open house at 5:30 p.m., when participants may review project information and discuss the project with staff. There is a brief presentation at 6:00 p.m., after which participants may provide comments to all present. The hearing ends at 7:30 p.m. Staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer any questions before and after the presentation.
Participants may provide public comment directly to a court reporter at any time during the hearing. Beginning October 9, 2017  the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Five will hold a week-long online public hearing for its Tentative Five Year Work Program for Fiscal Years 2018/2019 through 2022/2023, which is used to forecast funds needed for transportation system improvements. The online hearing provides information on projects across nine counties in East-Central Florida.
 
The annual online public hearing will be held online October 9-13, 2017 at www.D5WPPH.com. The material will be available 24 hours a day, and can be reviewed any time during the online hearing dates.
 
The online public hearing and public information outreach will also include consideration of proposed projects for Florida's Turnpike Enterprise. The work program outlines transportation improvements for all modes of transportation including:
Roadway 
Multi-modal transit
Bicycle 
Pedestrian
Freight 
Aviation
Seaports 
Space
Enhancement projects, such as trails
 
The five-year work program also provides clear direction on where to build projects, when to build projects, and how to fund projects. It is FDOT’s mission to provide a safe transportation system that ensures the mobility of people and goods, enhances economic prosperity, and preserves the quality of our environment and community.
