The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding an Alternatives Public Meeting for the SR 436 Concept Development Study. This study is building on the previous planning efforts of the SR 436 Corridor Planning Study, which identified a range of roadway improvements. The study limits are for the section of SR 436 from US 17-92 to Wilshire Drive, a distance of approximately one mile. This next phase, the Concept Development Study, is further refining the roadway improvements and detailing the impacts. As such, public and agency input is a critical component of the selection of a preferred roadway improvement.

The meeting begins as an open house at 5:30 p.m., with a presentation updating you on the project at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Date: Thursday, August 04, 2016
Time: 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Location Name: Leesburg Community Building – East Room
Street Address: 109 East Dixie Avenue
Lake County - The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have a public hearing about the safety improvements on State Road (SR) 44/West Dixie Avenue from SR 25/US 27/14th Street to SR 500/US 441.
At the request of the City of Leesburg and the Lake-Sumter County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), FDOT is proposing the addition of a concrete median separating opposing traffic directions. This median will act as a traffic calming device, will reduce the number of angle crashes on the corridor, and create a refuge for pedestrians crossing the roadway.
The public hearing will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at the Leesburg Community Building – East Room, 109 East Dixie Avenue, Leesburg, FL 34748.
There will be a formal presentation at 6 p.m. Staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions before and after the presentation.
