FDOT to hold public hearing for SR 50 widening

 
Orange County – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have a  public hearing regarding the widening of SR 50 from East of Avalon Park Boulevard/Pilgrim Street to East of Chuluota Road (CR 419)/Columbia School Road in Orlando.

The department is designing improvements to increase roadway capacity to address future traffic demand, serve the  community’s needs, and improve the quality of life for residents. The project will widen SR 50, within the project limits, from a four-lane to a six-lane roadway and provide accommodations for both bicycles and pedestrians. The project is not currently funded for construction.

The public hearing will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Eastpoint Fellowship Church, 15060 Old Cheney Highway, Orlando. The hearing will begin with an open house at 5:30 p.m., where participants may review project information and discuss the project with staff members. There will be a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m., after which participants may provide their verbal comments to all present. The hearing will end at 7:30 p.m. Staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. Participants may also provide verbal comments to a court reporter before and after the formal presentation.

Seminole County – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a public information meeting regarding the Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC), to review the latest site design.  

The project is funded for construction in 2017.

The project entails construction of a new state-of-the-art Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) for the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Highway Patrol Dispatch.  The RTMC will be a one-story, 44,700 square-foot building with parking located at the east terminus of Wilson Road in Seminole County. The RTMC will monitor traffic conditions around the nine-county area (Brevard, Volusia, Flagler, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Sumter, Lake and Marion).

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lakeside Fellowship United Methodist Church located at 305 S. Orange Boulevard in Sanford. The meeting is an informal open house where building renderings and a site plan will be available for review and project staff will be available to address questions.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has scheduled a public alternatives meeting regarding the Project Development & Environment (PD&E) study along County Road 470 (C-470) from C-527 to Florida’s Turnpike.
 
This is the second public meeting to be held as part of a community-based evaluation to determine how best to meet the needs of the traveling public. The purpose of this public meeting is to present and explain the alternatives under consideration, seek public and agencies input, and provide interested persons an opportunity to provide feedback and comments to the study team.
 
The public alternatives meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Lake Panasoffkee Recreation Park East Wing Meeting Room, 1589 County Road 459, Lake Panasoffkee, Florida 33538. The meeting will begin with an open house at 5:00 p.m., during which a looping introduction presentation will be shown. A live presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will adjourn at 7:00 p.m. Staff members will be available to discuss the study and answer any questions you may have.  Participants may provide public comments at any time during the meeting.  Written comments may also be submitted by mail, no later than June 26, 2016, to Sophia Villavicencio-Ortiz, Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc., 225 East Robinson Street, Suite 300, Orlando, Florida 32801.

Public Hearing for Wekiva Parkway Sections 3A, 3B, 5

Purpose:
Lake County - The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding an access management public hearing regarding the Wekiva Parkway (State Road (SR) 429) Sections 3A, 3B and 5. These improvements are funded for construction to begin in 2017.
 
Section 3A will widen one mile of State Road (SR) 46, and other non-toll road improvements, from east of Vista View Lane to east Round Lake Road. Section 3B will make widening and other improvements to SR 46 and US 441, including building a flyover interchange in that location in Mount Dora. Section 5 is also a non-toll road improvement that will relocate County Road (CR) 46A out of the Seminole State Forest, thereby improving habitat connectivity and reducing the risk of conflicts between vehicles and wildlife. CR 46A will be realigned 2.5 miles from north of Arundel Way to connect to SR 429 east of Camp Challenge Road. Work will include roadway widening, medians and turn lanes, sidewalks, drainage, lighting, sign and pavement markings, utilities and other roadway features on all three sections.
 
The public hearing will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Mount Dora Community Building, 520 N. Baker Street, Mount Dora, Florida 32757. The meeting begins with an open house at 5:30 p.m., where participants may review project information and discuss the project with staff. There will be a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m., after which participants may provide comments to all present. The hearing ends at 7:30 p.m.
 
 Staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions before and after the presentation. Participants may also provide comments directly to a court reporter at any time during the hearing.
