FDOT hosts meeting to talk about future of the Courtenay Parkway corridor

Purpose:
Brevard County - The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have a public kick-off meeting to talk about a corridor planning and concept development study along State Road (SR) 3 (Courtenay Parkway) from Fortenberry Road to Grant Road/Smith Road, in Brevard County.

The study will open discussion about the corridor’s growth and its future use. The planning study develops and evaluates alternative corridor improvement concepts to support a multimodal approach to providing for future transportation needs.

The meeting will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, at First Baptist Church of Merritt Island located at 140 Magnolia Avenue in Merritt Island, Florida 32952.  There will be a presentation at 6:30 p.m. The meeting ends at 8:00 p.m.

Open house for potential job opportunities on the I-4 Ultimate pro

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will need approximately 250 on-the-job-training positons filled over the course of the I-4 Ultimate construction.

The 21-mile reconstruction of I-4 from Kirkman Road to State Road 434 will take six years, and will need workers for a variety of labor and skilled craft positions throughout the project. Anyone 18 years or older, including disadvantaged workers, women and minorities, are encouraged to apply.

These meetings will explain the application process, and talk about future opportunities. No applications will be taken, and no interviews will be conducted at these meetings.

An open house meeting is scheduled in your area from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 with brief presentations at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at the Career Source Center, 609 N. Powers Drive, Suite 340, Orlando, FL 32818. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

FDOT hosts public meeting to talk about US 1/South Ridgewood Avenue improve

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have public information meeting to talk about the State Road (SR) 5/US 1 (South Ridgewood Avenue) design project. The project is about 8.1 miles, from South Street to Magnolia Avenue/Shangri-La Circle.
 
The meeting will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, at Edgewater City Hall – City Council Chambers, 104 N. Riverside Drive, Edgewater.
 
The improvements for this section of US 1 include:
·         Milling and resurfacing
·         ADA upgrades
·         Adding sidewalks to fill gaps
·         Drainage and signalization improvements.
 
The purpose of this meeting is to present the design concept of this project, and to receive feedback from the public. FDOT staff will be available to answer questions.
