Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four is conducting this public hearing to discuss the Draft Tentative Work Program of projects to occur between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2022 in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties. This hearing will include consideration of proposed projects for the Florida's Turnpike Enterprise System in those counties.

Safety is Golden Mobility Fair

The Florida Department of Transportation with the Volen Center and the Safe Mobility for Life Coalition are celebrating Older Driver Safety Awareness Week on Tuesday, December 6 at the East Boca Raton/Palmetto Park Rd. location with a Safety is Golden Mobility Fair.
 
Indoors, local and state mobility and transportation experts will be on hand to share resources with older drivers on topics ranging from the impacts of aging on driving, how to be proactive about future mobility needs, and safe alternatives to driving.
 
Outdoors, a CarFit event will be taking place to allow drivers to find the perfect fit with their automobiles. 
 
This fun and free event will have much to offer so join us for resources, raffle items, and great information for drivers, families, and caregivers.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this Alternatives Public Workshop regarding the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study of the I-95/Northlake Boulevard Interchange. The limits of the study are on I-95(SR9) from approximately 0.5 miles north and south of Northlake Boulevard and Northlake Boulevard from Military Trail to Sunrise Drive/Sandtree Drive in Palm Beach Gardens.
 
The workshop will be conducted as an informal open house. Drawings and other pertinent information will be available for public review. Project staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.
 
The purpose of this PD&E Study is to evaluate proposed interchange improvements at I-95 and Northlake Boulevard and to reduce congestion, enhance safety and achieve acceptable levels-of-service while minimizing potential impacts to the natural and human environment.

Construction Open House: Hillsboro Bvd from Military Trail to US 1

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this open house to discuss upcoming construction on Hillsboro Boulevard from Military Trail to US 1 in Deerfield Beach.
Construction is expected to begin January 3, 2017 with anticipated completion in early 2018.
 
This open house will have an informal format. No formal presentation will be made. Project plans will be on display and staff will be available to discuss the project, answer questions and address individual concerns.

Improvements that will be made during this construction include:
  • Improving the off-ramp from north I-95 to eastbound Hillsboro Boulevard including adding a new signalized intersection
  • Relocation and upgrading drainage structures
  • Upgrading crosswalk ramps to meet ADA requirements
  • Constructing new stamped asphalt crosswalks from east of Natura Boulevard to US 1
  • Upgrading existing pedestrian signals to countdown timers
  • Upgrading signalized intersections to mast arms
  • Installing new decorative lighting
  • Constructing new medians east of SE 2 Avenue
  • Removing old asphalt and repaving the roadway
  • Upgrading signs and pavement markings
  • Adding a bike lane or sharrows in each direction
Traffic impact during construction:
  • One lane in each direction of Hillsboro Boulevard may be closed at any time
  • Up to two lanes in each direction of Hillsboro Boulevard may be closed overnight between 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • A sidewalk will be maintained on at least one side of the road within the project limits. Signs will be in place to guide pedestrians through the work zone.  
  • A full closure of Hillsboro Boulevard near the CSX railroad is expected over one weekend for roadway reconstruction. More information about this closure and the detour will be included in FDOT's weekly traffic report prior to the closure

Construction Open House: SW 4 Ave from N. Perimeter Rd to Broward Blv

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and our project partners are holding this informal open house to discuss upcoming improvements to be made along SW 4 Avenue from SW 34 Street/North Perimeter Road to Broward Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.
 
Project plans will be on display and staff will be available throughout the open house to discuss the project, answer questions and address individual concerns. No formal presentation will be made.
 
Improvements to be made include:
  • Removing old asphalt and resurfacing the road to provide 5-foot-wide bike lanes in each direction, except between SW 6 Street and SW 2 Street where sharrow pavement markings will be applied
  • Reducing the existing speed limit from 40 MPH to 35 MPH
 
Construction is expected to begin in January 2017 with completion anticipation in early Spring 2017.
 
During construction, single lane closures can be expected Mondays through Fridays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.  and Sunday nights through Thursday nights between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
 
This work is part of a $15 million contract awarded to Construction Group Corp. for the construction of sidewalks, multi-use pedestrian paths and bike lanes along 45 roadways throughout Broward County. This is part of a larger $100 million investment from the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization to provide bicycle, pedestrian and public transportation access throughout the county.
