A1A Sidewlak & Lighting Project in Hallandale Beach Construction Open House

Purpose:
The Florida department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this open house to discuss upcoming construction on A1A in Hallandale Beach from County Line Road to Hallandale Beach Boulevard.
 
Construction is expected to begin in early May with anticipated  completion in spring 2017.
 
The $2.5 million project includes:
  • Installing new decorative sidewalks
  • Installing new decorative street and pedestrian lighting
 
During construction one lane in each direction at the intersection of A1A and Hallandale Beach Boulevard may be closed Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., except when pouring sidewalk one lane can be closed until 8:30 a.m. Also, sidewalks on both sides of A1A will be closed intermittently weekdays. Signs will be in place to direct pedestrians to open sidewalks.

CR 712A/McCarty Road Bridge Replacement Project Public Information Meeting

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this public meeting to discuss the proposed replacement of the CR 712A/McCarty Road Bridge over Ten-Mile Creek in St. Lucie County, FL.
 
The project includes:
  • Replacing the existing two-lane bridge
  • Center of bridge will be raised two feet, one inch above the existing bridge elevation to accommodate higher creed flood water elevations
  • At 3755 McCarty Road the edge of pavement is expected to be four inches higher than the existing elevation
  • Raised concrete walkway will be provided on the east side of the new bridge

Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2017 with anticipated completion in one year. The estimated construction cost is $1.7 million.

Construction Impacts:

  • McCarty Road will be closed to all traffic at the bridge. Motorists will be detoured to Shinn Road via Okeechobee Road or Midway Road
  • Bridge piles will be driver for the new bridge. Expect noise and vibrations during pile driving operations

 The meeting will have an informal, open house format. FDOT project staff will be available throughout the meeting to discuss the project, answer questions and address individual concerns.

Indrio Road Widening Project Open House

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this informational open house to discuss the upcoming widening of State Road 614/Indrio Road  from west of the I-95 interchange to east of State Road 607/Emerson Avenue.
 
The 2.7-mile-long project is expected to begin May 2 and is anticipated to be completed in spring 2019. The $23.95 million contract was awarded to Dickerson Florida, Inc. FDOT and Target Engineering Group will oversee the project.
 
The project includes:
  • Reconstructing the existing two-lane road to a four-lane, divided highway with raised median
  • Constructing a 6-foot sidewalk along the south side of Indri Road
  • Constructing a 12-foot-wide multi-purpose trail along the north side of Indrio Road
  • Realigning Spanish Lakes Boulevard to connect with Koblegard Road
  • Reconstructing Koblegard Road from Indrio Road north approximately 1/2 mile
  • Installing new highway lighting, signs and traffic signals
 
During construction at least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times along Indrio Road. Two-way traffic along Spanish Lakes Boulevard will be maintained at all times.

Wave Streetcar Project Industry Forum

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this Industry Forum to present The Wave Streetcar Project in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
 
This is a proposed adjusted score Design-Build contract.
 
The purpose of the forum is to inform potential Design-Build teams, including contractors, subcontractors, design consultants and streetcar vehicle manufacturers of the important elements and considerations of the proposed contract, including whether to include the streetcars as part of the Design-Build contract or to procure the streetcars under a separate contract.
 
The project consists of:
  • The design and construction of the first phase of the Wave Streetcar System, a 2.8-mile segment to move people in and around downtown Fort Lauderdale 
  • Purchase of five streetcars
  • Construction of 13 stations
  • Construction of the Vehicle Maintenance and Storage Facility (VMSF) that will include light and heavy maintenance bays, the Operation Control Center, office/administration space, train wash equipment and various shops
Other project requirements include, but are not limited to: Surveys; Roadway; Earthwork; Drainage; Moveable bridge rehabilitation/modification; Miscellaneous structures; Guardrail; Retaining walls; Traffic control; Utility relocation; Signing and pavement markings; Embedded track work; Traction electrification; Overhead contact system (OCS); Train control/signalization; Communications; SCADA; Street lighting; Fare collection; Public involvement; and Environmental permitting.  
 
Industry Forum Agenda:

          Presentation will include the project scope, anticipated procurement timeline and procurement process for this project

The Draft Request for Proposal (RFP) will be released on May 12, 2016 and sent to registered teams for review.
 
Design-Build teams will also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with FDOT senior management staff and the project Technical Review Committee (TRC) members on May 20 at the FDOT District Four Office at 3400 West Commercial Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. These meeting may be requested on the Industry Forum Registration form.
 
Industry feedback on the Draft RFP and related topics can be discussed at the Industry Forum one-on-one meetings on May 20. Following the Industry Forum one-on-one meetings, additional comments should be sent by email to the Project Manager at Robert.Bostian@dot.state.fl.us.  
 
The Wave Streetcar Project is a partnership among Broward County, Florida Department of Transportation, City of Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority, Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, US Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration.
 
Funding of this project is contingent upon appropriation by the Legislature.
