Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this informal open house to provide the community with an update regarding on-going construction on State Road 7 from SW 25 Street in the Miramar/West Park area to south of Stirling Road in the Seminole Indian Reservation/Hollywood area.
 
This construction project includes:
  • Widening SR 7 to six lanes with  left turns separated by raised medians
  • Installing new storm drainage system and retention ponds
  • Installing new underground utility pipes 
  • Installing new bus bays/bus stop locations
  • Installing new highway lighting system
  • installing Intelligent Transportation System components including digital message signs and traffic monitoring cameras
  • Installing new traffic signals with pedestrian countdown timers
  • Installing new curbs and gutters with ADA compliant ramps 
  • Paving the travel lanes and shoulders throughout the project limits
 
No formal presentation will be made. Project plans and diagrams will be on display and staff will be available to discuss the construction, answer questions and address individual concerns.

I-95 at Boynton Beach & Gateway Blvds Alternatives Public Workshop

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this Alternatives Public Workshop to update the community on the Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study for the I-95 at State Road 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard and I-95 at Gateway Boulevard interchange projects.
 
The purpose of the project is to enhance overall traffic operations and improve the Level of Service (LOS) at the existing interchanges to accommodate projected travel demand. The PD&E Study will also consider Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) connector improvements needed within the project area and will be consistent with plans for I-95, including the potential extension of express lanes through Palm Beach County. 
 
The PD&E Study began in May 2015 and is expected to be completed in June 2017.
 
The workshop will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m. Project diagrams and plans will be on display and staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the project one-on-one. A formal presentation will be made at 6 p.m. followed by a public comment period and additional Q&A.

Sunset Strip Complete Streets Project Public Workshop

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and City of Sunrise are holding this public information workshop to discuss proposed improvements to be made to Sunset Strip from Nob Hill Road to Sunrise Boulevard .
 
The workshop will have an informal open house format. No formal presentation will be made. Project plans will be on display and FDOT project staff will be available to discuss the proposed improvements, answer questions and address individual concerns.
 
The proposed improvements include:
  • Eliminating a travel lane on Sunset Strip in each direction from Nob Hill Road to 15th Street, by milling and repaving Sunset Strip and restriping the road to provide one 12-foot travel lane and an 8-foot buffered bike lane in each direction
  • Widening for bike lanes from 15th Street to Sunrise Boulevard
  • Maintaining two thru lanes in each direction on Sunset Strip and widening to provide a 5-foot bike lane at the Nob Hill Road, Pine Island Road, University Drive and Sunrise Boulevard intersections
  • Replacing the traffic signal at the Sunset Strip/64th Avenue intersection with a roundabout
  • Replacing the 4-way stop at the Sunset Strip/19th Street intersection with a roundabout
  • Installing new lighting at both roundabouts
  • Installing new signs and pavement markings through the project limits
 
Construction of these improvements is expected to begin in Summer 2017 with anticipated completion in Summer 2018. The estimated construction cost of these improvements is $2.8 million.
