Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation invites you to attend a public hearing to discuss safety improvements to the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard (SR-10) and University Boulevard (SR-109), in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.

The proposed improvements will provide safer traffic operations through the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and University Boulevard.  The recommended improvements include:

  • An additional left turn lane from westbound Atlantic Boulevard to southbound University Blvd. (currently single left turn).

  • Adding a right turn lane from northbound University Blvd. to eastbound Atlantic Blvd.

  • Extending the length of the existing right turn lane from southbound University Blvd. to westbound Atlantic Blvd.
  • Relocate existing Lawrence Place (city street) to provide a safer connection to University Blvd. (move it further north, away from University/Atlantic intersection).

  • Replace/upgrade existing signals with new mast arms, and lighting improvements.


Right of way will be required to accommodate widening for additional turn lanes.


As of January 8, 2015, project documents will be available for review at the Regency Square Branch Library, 9900 Regency Square Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32225 and the FDOT Urban Office, 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL  32204.

State Road 212 (US 90/Beach Blvd.) Safety Improvements

Purpose:

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District 2, will conduct an Access Management Public Hearing on proposed safety improvements along SR 212 (US 90/Beach Boulevard) including the intersection with SR 109 (University Boulevard). The meeting will be held Thursday, February 19, 2014 at Spring Glen United Methodist, 6007 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216. The   meeting will be an “Open House” format between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. to give you an opportunity to review exhibits and talk with Department Staff.  At 6:30 p.m. public comments will be heard.

The limits of this project extend from F.O.P. Way to Ryar Road (approximately one mile). Proposed improvements include widening for additional turn lanes and the installation of traffic separators at the intersection of State Road 109 (University Boulevard).

This hearing is being held to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.

Persons who wish to submit written statements may do so at the hearing or send them to the project contact listed below postmarked on or before February 29, 2014 to be included in the official transcript for this project.

I-10/95 Interchange Area Proposed Improvements

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will conduct a Public Information Meeting on proposed improvements to the I-10 and I-95 interchange area from US 17 to the Fuller Warren Bridge in Jacksonville. The meeting will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015 at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd 1100 Stockton St., Jacksonville, FL 32204. The meeting will be an “Open House” format between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. to give you an opportunity to review exhibits and talk with Department Staff. At 6:30 p.m. public comments will be heard.
 
FDOT recommends the following improvements:
•Eastbound I-10 to Southbound I-95
     -New deceleration lane for the Stockton Off-Ramp. 
     -Widening the I-10 eastbound exit to I-95 south from one to   two lanes.
    -Adding two southbound auxiliary lanes to the Fuller Warren Bridge.

•Northbound I-95 to Westbound I-10
    -Adding one northbound auxiliary lane to the Fuller Warren Bridge.
    -Widening the ramp from I-95 northbound to I-10 westbound from two  to three lanes.

 •A new fly-over from I-95 northbound to Stockton Street and ramp modifications within the interchange area to eliminate weaving on I-10 caused by the ramps from I-95.

 •Estimated Cost: $128 million (includes approximately $20 million for a multi-use path.)
