Purpose: FDOT will hold a Construction Open House to provide information about the pedestrian improvements to US 41 over Caloosahatchee River Bridge from First Street to North Key Drive. The meeting will be an open-house format. People attending the meeting may review project displays and speak one-on-one with project team members about proposed improvements and alternate travel routes. The department sent notices to all property owners and businesses located within 1,000 feet on either end of the Caloosahatchee Bridge, as well as any other interested groups. The meeting is developed in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes. Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to a public hearing for the Little Ringling Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study from Bird Key Drive to Sarasota Harbour West in Sarasota County on Thursday, March 21, 2024. This study is evaluating replacement alternatives to address structural integrity due to the age and operational deficiencies of the existing bridges. The proposed improvements will enhance safety, improve traffic operations, add a transit lane, replace the existing sidewalks with shared use paths, harden infrastructure, and increase the bridge’s resilience to storm events. This hearing is being conducted to present the preferred alternative and all analysis to date, as well as to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements. SR 72 from US 41 (SR 45) to Honore Avenue Public Meeting

Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is proposing improvements on State Road (SR) 72 in Sarasota County. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the existing roadway and improve safety along the corridor. The project consists of repaving the roadway from US 41 (SR 45) to Derek Avenue and reconstructing the existing pavement from Derek Avenue to Honore Avenue. FDOT is also proposing access management improvements from Swift Road to Sawyer Road under FPID 447887-1. This work will be constructed concurrently with the work under FPID 449122-1. The intent of the improvements is to enhance traffic flow and reduce crashes by replacing the existing center two-way left turn lane with a raised median and reducing lane widths. Additional improvements include construction of one or more mid-block pedestrian crossings with Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHB) between Lockwood Ridge Road and Beneva Road and striping, signal, and lighting upgrades.
