Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites the community and travelers to a public information meeting about safety improvements to the State Road 17 (SR 17) at Hunt Brothers Road intersection.  The meeting is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Lake Wales Woman's Club, 275 E. Park Avenue, Lake Wales, Florida.  The open house allows attendees to view displays and discuss the work one-on-one with members of the project team.
 
FDOT will modify SR 17 at Hunt Brothers Road intersection into a roundabout.  The project will improve intersection safety, reduce risk of crashes, and improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety at the intersection.  The project includes reconstructing intersection with flashing beacon to a single lane roundabout; installing a raised central island in the roundabout, with truck apron; installing pedestrian refuge islands; and installing lighting.  Construction is scheduled to begin late Summer/early Fall 2015.

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites the community and travelers to a public hearing for the proposed safety improvements to State Road 60 intersections at Willow Oak Road (from milepost 2.112 to milepost 2.500) and South Creek Drive (from milepost 3.38 to milepost 3.902)
 
The hearing is held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Willow Oak Church of God, 4087 State Road 60, Mulberry, FL 33860.
 
The hearing will consist of an open house from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., allowing people  time to view displays, ask questions, and discuss the work one-on-one with members of the project team.  There will be a brief audio-visual presentation about the project at 5:30 p.m. followed by public comment period.  Following, the open house will continue until 7 p.m.
 
Proposed improvements at Willow Oak Road consist of realigning and channelizing the median opening and installing left and U-turn lanes.  Proposed improvements to South Creek Drive include installing left turn lanes on east and westbound SR 60, adding a right turn lane with bicycle lane on westbound SR 60, and eliminating the full median opening just immediately east.  Construction is scheduled to begin early Fall 2015.

The Florida Department of Transportation shall dispose of by sealed bid a borrow pit located directly on US 27 South of Deer Creek Blvd., Davenport, Florida. The property is vacant land consisting of 5.63 acres which includes a 40-foot wide haul route connecting the borrow pit to US 27. The haul route and borrow pit are encumbered by a 25 foot wide easement in favor of Gulfstream Natural Gas for a natural gas pipeline. Property is sold as is and subject to the easement. The Department will approve a non-conforming connection if it determined that an alternative access is not available. The oil, gas, mineral rights, if any to the property shall be retained by FDOT unless petitioned in wiring by the buyer for a waiver to release same. The appraised fair market value for the property is $9,000.00 and is the specified minimum bid to be received. The bid will be awarded to the highest bidder. FDOT reserves the right to withdraw the property if the minimum bid is not received.  Sealed bids not received by 1:30 pm on September 12, 2014, at FDOT, 801 North Broadway Avenue, Bartow, FL 33830 will not be accepted or considered.
