The purpose of this project is to improve mobility and accessibility as well as provide safer travel conditions for multiple modes of transportation. The roadway corridor includes a mix of industrial, heavy commercial, office and neighborhood-serving retail uses. Roadways perpendicular to and intersecting with 15th Street East serve residential neighborhoods, mostly to the west. Downtown Bradenton is approximately 2.25 miles north-northwest of the northern project limit. The Sarasota Manatee MPO 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan identifies this segment of 15th Street East as having relatively high bicycle, pedestrian and transit use.
