US 17 from Desoto/Hardee County Line to Sweetwater Road (CR 634)

Purpose:
The public meeting is for interested parties to view and discuss upcoming roadway improvements on US 17 (SR 35) from the Desoto / Hardee County line to Sweetwater Road (CR 634) in Hardee County, Florida. Improvements include widening the roadway from two lanes to four lanes and building new two-lane bridges over Charlie Creek and Charlie Creek Overflow. The contractor, Watson Civil Construction, is also installing new roadside drainage swales and storm water ponds to manage water running off the roadway. A 64-foot wide grassed median will be built to separate the northbound and southbound lanes. Driveways may be modified in slope to accommodate the new alignment and higher roadway. Property owners will continue to have access to US 17 during construction. The expected completion of this $23.5 million project is summer 2018.

US 27 from the Highlands County line to north of State Road (SR) 60

Purpose:
FDOT is holding this hearing due to circumstances involving property owners who were not notified of the first public hearing on March 22, 2016, and to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
 
An open-house begins at 6 p.m. when people can view the recommended conceptual design on aerial photographs, ask questions, and provide comments to FDOT representatives. The formal hearing begins at 7 p.m. The hearing moderator will offer introductory remarks followed by a video describing the proposed widening project. An intermission will follow when people can register to make oral comments, which will be received following the intermission. Written comments will also be accepted.
 
Draft study reports and conceptual design plans are available for public review through September 19, 2016, at Lake Wales Public Library, 290 Cypress Garden Lane in Lake Wales and Latt Maxcy Memorial Library, 15 North Magnolia Avenue in Frostproof.
 
FDOT sent notices to property owners located within 300 feet on either side of US 27 and SR 60 within the study limits. Encroachments on wetlands and floodplains have been identified and may be given special consideration under Executive Orders 11990 and 11988, Protection of Wetlands and Floodplain Management, respectively.

US 41 from Browning Street to 11th Street Construction Public Meeting

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a public information meeting regarding improvements to US 41 from Browning Street to 11th Street in Sarasota County. The public meeting is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Selby Library Jack J. Geldbart Auditorium, 1331 1st Street, Sarasota, Florida 34236. FDOT will hold this meeting to give interested persons the opportunity to talk one-on-one with staff and make comments about the project.
The project includes resurfacing the roadway; improving drainage; installing highway lighting, curb and gutter; constructing sidewalk, and new signing and pavement markings. The $6.2 million project begins late September and completion expected in summer 2017. 
FDOT developed this meeting in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes.
