Perdido Key Drive (State Road 292) PD&E Study Public Hearing

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing regarding a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study that is being conducted to evaluate proposed transportation solutions for State Road (S.R.) 292 (Perdido Key Drive) Financial Project Identification Number:  421011-1-28-01.
 
The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m., followed with a formal presentation at 6 p.m.CDT The hearing is being held to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed project. 
 
Draft study documents and other information depicting the proposed improvements will be available for public review at the hearing and during regular business hours from May 17, 2016 through June 17, 2016 at the Milton Operations Center, 6025 Old Bagdad Highway, Milton, Florida, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center, 15500 Perdido Key Drive, Pensacola, Florida, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
 
Proposed improvements include both Short-Term and Long-Term recommendations.
• Short-Term Recommendation:  Construction of a multi-use path from the western entrance of Perdido Key State Park to Gongora Drive.  This improvements is funded and is being advanced.
• Long-Term Recommendation:  Widen S.R. 292 (Perdido Key Drive) to four lanes, add bicycle lanes and sidewalks/multi-use trail from the Alabama state line to County Road 292A (Innerarity Point Road/Gulf Beach Highway).  This recommendation is not funded in the local Cost Feasible Plan and consequently not being advanced.

Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a Florida Highway Beautification Council (FHBC) Grant Program workshop for local governments and community development organizations. The FHBC Grant Program, as defined in Rule Chapter 14-40, Part II, Florida Administrative Code, is a 50/50 matching grant that will pay for landscaping along state rights of way. FDOT allows qualified agencies to apply for this annual highway beautification grant to enhance the attractiveness of roads on the State Highway System.
