US 331 PD&E Study Public Information Meeting, Coy Burg. Loop Rd to AL Line

Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public information meeting regarding proposed improvements in the northern part of the US 331 PD&E Study for residents from the Liberty area to the Alabama state line Maps, drawings, and other information regarding the improvements only in Paxton will be on display. FDOT representatives will be available to discuss the proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments. Current and projected traffic forecasts indicate the level of service does not meet FDOT criteria to widen the roadway. Therefore, no capacity improvements are necessary at this time to accommodate the forecasted 2040 peak hour volumes from Coy Burgess Loop Road to the Alabama state line. Operational and safety improvements are being evaluated. In Paxton, the improvements include installing rectangular rapid flashing beacons and upgrading the school zone signage at the existing crosswalk. A public hearing concerning the above-referenced project will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. CST at the DeFuniak Springs Community Center Main Auditorium, 361 North 10th Street, DeFuniak Springs. The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6 p.m., followed by a public comment period. During the informal portion of the hearing, FDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project, answer questions, and receive comments. Maps, drawings, and other information regarding the entire project limits will be on display. This hearing is being held to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed project. Draft study documents and other information will be available for public review at the hearing. Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing on proposed improvemens on US 98 Business (West Garden Street) at Barrancas Avenue in Escambia County (Financial Project Identification Number: 220876-8-52-50) The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6 p.m., followed by a public comment period. The intent of this project is to provide access management modifications on State Road (S.R.) 30 (U.S. 98 Business/West Garden Street) at the intersection of Barrancas Avenue. Improvements include: The closure of South D Street adjacent to the Siemens property, installation of raised grassed medians between E and C Streets; providing a directional opening at D Street, and upgrading the traffic signal to a mast arm. Also proposed are pedestrian safety features, new crosswalks, sidewalk construction, and lighting at the intersection. The project is anticipated to begin summer 2018 and take approximately three months to complete; weather permitting. Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing concerning proposed access management changes on a resurfacing project currently under design on US 29 from south of County Road 184 (Muscogee/ Becks Lake Road) to SR 97 (Atmore Highway). Financial Project Identification Number: 437746-1-52-01 The project intends to install a new traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. 29 and County Road (C.R.) 182 (Molino Road) and close the median just north of the U.S. 29 / Molina Road intersection at the Dollar General Store. Additional improvements will include; milling and resurfacing U.S. 29 from just south of Muscogee Road / Becks Lake Road to Atmore Highway, a total of eight miles, and perform safety and operational improvements at C.R. 196 (Barrineau Park Road), C.R. 184 (West Quintette Road) and the Molino Forestry Station. The improvements include Americans with Disability Act improvements, turn lanes, median opening and driveway modifications. Right of way is required for the turn lane improvements at C.R. 184(Muscogee/Becks Lake Road intersection. The project is funded for construction in Fiscal Year 2019.
