The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) is holding this public hearing to discuss the Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Reevaluation Study and design update for the widening of Florida’s Turnpike (SR 91) from Atlantic Boulevard (MP 66) to Wiles Road (MP 70) in Broward County, Florida.
FDOT previously completed a PD&E study in 2006 to widen Florida’s Turnpike from 6 to 8 lanes.  The project moved into the design phase and was suspended in 2007 due to the economic situation and concerns with potential utility impacts.  The design is being updated to include widening the Turnpike from 6 to 10 lanes, including Express Lanes.  The project also includes access modifications to the Coconut Creek Parkway and Sample Road interchanges, as well as conversion to All Electronic Tolling.  As part of the design update, a PD&E reevaluation is being conducted.
This Public Hearing is being conducted to give interested parties an opportunity to express their views concerning the design of the proposed improvements.  The project is being evaluated in accordance with Federal Executive Orders 11990 (Protection of Wetlands) and 11988 (Floodplain Management).
