Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting this Public Hearing for the Project development and Environment (PD&E) Study of County Road (CR) 510 from CR 512 to 58th Avenue in Indian River County.
 
The purpose of this project is to develop and evaluate design concepts to improve connectivity for all modes of transportation within the study limits.
 
The Public Hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic and environmental effect of the proposed improvements.
 
The hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an informal open house. A formal presentation will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a public comment period. Draft project documents will be on display throughout the Public Hearing.

UNIVERSITY DRIVE WIDENING PROJECT FROM 40TH STREET/CARDINAL ROAD TO SR 869/

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four invite you to the informal open house public workshop for North University Drive between 40th Street/Cardinal Road and SR 869/Sawgrass Expressway in Coral Springs, FL. FDOT staff and project partners will be available to discuss the proposed improvements, answer questions and receive comments on the proposed design project. The purpose of the project is to widen the roadway to accommodate six lanes with a median to increase capacity, reduce congestion, improve access and enhance safety.  The project will also include bicycle and pedestrian features; intersection improvements; new storm water drainage; upgraded traffic signals; modification of turning movements; landscaping, lighting and sidewalks.
The estimated construction cost for the widening project is $18 million. The project is expected to be funded for construction in fiscal year 2023.
Proposed roadway improvements include:
• Widening University Drive to a 6-lane urban facility.
• Create a complete street with 11-foot lanes, 7-foot buffered bike lanes, 6-foot sidewalk and a raised median.
The project includes:
• Intersection improvements
• Street Lights
• New Storm Water Drainage
• Upgraded Traffic Signals at existing intersections
• Landscaping
• Modifications of turning movements at the following median openings:
o North Springs Way and NW 48th Manor
o Pine Ridge Drive
o NW 52nd Place and NW 53rd Street
o Coral Springs Professional Campus
o NW 56th Drive

Construction Open House: Palmetto Park Road from SR 7 to NW 2 Ave

Purpose:
 
The Florida Department of Transporation (FDOT) is holding an informal Open House to discuss the upcoming shared use path improvement project on Palmetto park Road from State Road 7/US 441 to NW 2 Avenue in Boca Raton.
 
Project plans and other documents will be on display. No formal presentation will be made. Staff will be on hand to discuss the project, answer questions and address individual concerns.
 
Construction on this 6.279-mile project will begin Friday, April 20, 2018 with completion anticipated in spring 2019. General Asphalt Co., was awarded the $4 million construction project.  American Engineering Group will provide project oversight.
 
Improvements being made include:
  • Widening existing shared use path and installing new shared use path on the south side of the roadway from SR 7 to NW 12 Avenue and on both sides of the roadway from NW 12th Avenue to NW 2 Avenue to meet current ADA design standards and to improve pedestrian and bicyclist access to mass transit options along Palmetto Park Road.
  • Minor roadway resurfacing at side streets
  • Widening westbound turn lane at Cardinal Avenue entrance to the Boca Raton Museum of Art School 
Traffic Impacts:
  • Lane closures between Military Trail and I-95 may only occur between 8:30 p.m. and 7 a.m. Other wide, lane closures should be expected Monday through Friday, in each direction, at any time
  • Minor night and weekend work may be required
  • Existing shared use paths may be closed at various times and location, on one side of the road at a time
