Us 27 at SR 60 Design Change Reevaluation Public Hearing

Purpose:
This hearing will discuss design changes to the US 27 at SR 60 interchange from the PD&E study. At this location, FDOT will widen US 27 and SR 60 from four to six lanes within the project limits, reconstruct the existing SR 60 cloverleaf interchange to a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI), and construct a new bridge over US 27. The department will also construct a frontage road in the southwest quadrant of the interchange to aid with access to local businesses. Additional right-of-way is required for frontage road and interchange improvements.
 
The hearing begins at with an open house at 5 p.m. and follows with a formal presentation at 6 p.m. Project information and graphics showing the project's location and proposed improvements will be available for public viewing from September 5, 2017 to October 6, 2017 at the Lake Wales Public Library (290 Cypress Garden Lane, Lake Wales) and FDOT District One Headquarters (801 North Broadway Avenue, Bartow).
 
The environmental review, consultant, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carries out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016 and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.

South Tamiami Trail (US 41) from 301 Boulevard West to 21st Avenue West

Purpose:
- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a public hearing regarding plans to improve safety along South Tamiami Trail (US 41) with the installation of a raised median between 301 Boulevard West and 21st Avenue West in Manatee County. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Courtyard by Marriott, 100 Riverfront Drive, FL 34205.

There will be an open house at 5 p.m. during which staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions, followed by the formal hearing presentation at 6 p.m., after which participants may provide their verbal comments to all present.  People attending the meeting hearing can review project displays and speak one-on-one with project team members about the proposed safety improvements to South Tamiami Trail (US 41).

The purpose of this hearing is to discuss the installation of a raised median from 301 Boulevard West to 21st Avenue West. Other improvements include pedestrian crosswalk pavement markings across the north leg of US 41 at 30th Avenue, improvements to the existing drainage condition at 30th Avenue East, and updates to existing sidewalk curb ramps to bring them in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. The estimated construction cost is $767,000 and construction should begin during the summer of 2018.

The draft project documents and other information will be available for public review from September 5 through October 6, 2017 at the Downtown Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Boulevard West, Bradenton, FL 34205.

SR 70 from Orange Avenue to Turner Avenue,

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, will hold a public hearing about median modifications and pedestrian safety improvements. These modifications are part of a resurfacing project on SR 70 from Orange Avenue to Turner Avenue, DeSoto County, FL. 
 
The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Calvary Baptist Church Worship Center at 1509 E. Oak Street, Arcadia, Florida, 34266. The evening will begin with an open house at 5 p.m., with the formal public hearing and presentation beginning at 6 p.m. The department encourages all interested people to attend and express their opinions regarding the project.

FDOT did pedestrian counts in 2015 and determined for safety reasons the mid-block pedestrian crossings are needed.    As part of this resurfacing project, FDOT is designing mid-block pedestrian crossings between North 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue, and just east of 12th Avenue. The mid-block crossings will provide designated areas for pedestrians to cross SR 70.   

Draft concept plans are available for review through October 20, 2017 at the DeSoto County Library at 125 North Hillsborough Avenue in Arcadia.  Library hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The library is closed on Sunday and Monday.

RESCHEDULED MEETING: SR 82 from Lee Blvd/Colonial Blvd to Shawnee Road

Purpose:
The meeting will be an open house format, no formal presentation will be made. Those attending the meeting will be able to view displays, ask questions, and discuss the work one-on-one with members of the project team.
 
The department’s contractor, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, begins work mid-September to widen SR 82 to six lanes from east of Lee Boulevard to Shawnee Road, with completion estimated by summer of 2019. This 4.5 mile corridor will have a median separating three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 6.5-foot inside paved shoulders, bike lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side. The project will also add a grass median and LED lighting throughout this segment.
 
The project also includes constructing a Florida’s first Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) on at the intersection of SR 82 at Daniels Parkway/Gunnery Road.  The CFI will ease traffic congestion at the intersection and include multiple signals to reduce turning delays. 
 
Crews will begin work the week of September 18th with installation of construction signs and silt fence for erosion control.  Work occurs during the day and during nighttime/overnight hours.  Lane closures on SR 82 may occur in both the westbound and eastbound travel lanes from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One invites you to attend a public hearing about the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study to widen State Road 655 (Recker Highway) over the CSX railroad in Auburndale.
 
The hearing will begin at 5 p.m. as an open house with a formal presentation at 6 p.m. followed by a comment period. The hearing is rescheduled for Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Clubhouse at Lake Ariana, located at 320 Ramsgate Road, Auburndale, Florida.
 
The study limits are Recker Highway from east of Barton Park Road to US 92 and Thornhill Road from Recker Highway to one-half mile south of Recker Highway. The proposed improvements include widening Recker Highway from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, including the addition of bike lanes and sidewalks, the construction of a new bridge to carry Recker Highway over the CSX railroad, and the construction of access roads. The project will also change the Access Classification from Class 6, a non-restrictive roadway, to Class 5, a restrictive roadway. Chapter 335.199, Florida Statutes, requires a public hearing to present the proposed Access Classification change when any project on the State Highway System closes or modifies an existing access.
 
This hearing is being held to allow interested persons an opportunity to be informed and provide comments concerning the location; conceptual design; and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed project on Recker Highway. The proposed project consists of improving safety and traffic flow.
 
Draft project documents will be available for public review weekdays from August 29, 2017 through September 29, 2017 at the Auburndale Public Library, 100 West Bridgers Avenue, Auburndale and on the project website, www.swflroads.com/sr655/recker/overcsx. These materials will also be available at the hearing site from 5 p.m. until the end of the hearing.

I-75 at SR 70 Interchange Public Information Workshop

Purpose:
FDOT will hold a Public Information Workshop for the I-75 at SR 70 Interchange project. The Workshop will be held on October 19th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Manatee Technical College; 6305 State Rd 70 East; Bradenton, FL 34203. This project received advanced funding in November 2016 and will be let in May of 2018. This project will include the reconstruction of the SR 70 interchange from its existing partial cloverleaf design to a modified diamond interchange design with a single loop in the northwest quadrant. The project will also expand I-75 to an eight-lane highway with three through lanes and an auxiliary lane in each direction and will rebuild I-75 bridges over SR 70. FDOT will also widen about 1.15 miles of SR 70 from east of Tara Boulevard to west of 87th Street to accommodate the interchange improvements.
