Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to a public hearing for the US 41 (SR 45) at Bonita Beach Road Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study in Lee County on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. This study evaluates potential capacity and safety improvements, as well as multi-modal features to address congestion and meet future demand including crosswalks with pedestrian hybrid beacons, a new transit stop, and 12-foot wide shared-use paths at all intersection approaches. This hearing is being conducted to present the preferred alternative and all analysis to date, as well as to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements. You can participate live online or in-person. The information presented during either format will be the same and all attendees will have opportunity to comment. SR 72 from US 41 (SR 45) to Honore Avenue Public Meeting

Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is proposing improvements on State Road (SR) 72 in Sarasota County. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the existing roadway and improve safety along the corridor. The project consists of repaving the roadway from US 41 (SR 45) to Derek Avenue and reconstructing the existing pavement from Derek Avenue to Honore Avenue. FDOT is also proposing access management improvements from Swift Road to Sawyer Road under FPID 447887-1. This work will be constructed concurrently with the work under FPID 449122-1. The intent of the improvements is to enhance traffic flow and reduce crashes by replacing the existing center two-way left turn lane with a raised median and reducing lane widths. Additional improvements include construction of one or more mid-block pedestrian crossings with Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHB) between Lockwood Ridge Road and Beneva Road and striping, signal, and lighting upgrades.

Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise will hold a Design Public Information Meeting for the project Sawgrass Expressway (SR 869) from North of Sample Road to West of SR 7 (US 441) in Broward County, Financial Project Identification Numbers 435461-4 and 435461-5. The proposed improvements include widening this 6.4-mile segment of the Sawgrass Expressway (SR 869) from six to ten lanes. The Coral Ridge Drive interchange will be converted from a diamond interchange to a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). University Drive will be widened north and south of Sawgrass Expressway, and additional turn lanes will be provided at the exit ramps. The Sawgrass Expressway bridges over Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs Drive, University Drive, and Riverside Drive will also be widened. This Public Information Meeting will give interested people an opportunity to review the project design and ask questions about the proposed improvements.
